Operating Guidelines

The W6NUT Repeater is an open repeater. This means that anyone with a valid call sign is welcome to use the repeater, provided you have not been asked to stay away by the owner. The following list does not cover every possible situation so please use common sense and try to be a good amateur radio operator.

  1. You must identify your station by using your Amateur Radio call sign at least every 10 minutes or when asked to by another identified operator.

  2. Don't jam. Jamming is when you try to transmit while someone else is talking. Please be a courteous operator and wait your turn.

  3. Don't be a repeater hog. The w6Nut repeater can get quite busy at times. Try to keep your conversations short and allow other operators to participate.

  4. Don't butt into every conversation. Sometime it's best just to keep your mouth shut and listen.

  5. Keep the profanity to a minimum. If you constantly over use it or it becomes annoying you will be asked to stop or go away.

  6. Don't be obscene. If you think that what you're about to say may be obscene please keep it to yourself.

  7. Don't be a radio bully. If all you want to do is fight, argue and ridicule perhaps you should see a therapist and come back when you're feeling better.

  8. Occasionally we handle emergency traffic on this repeater by assisting someone in danger or in need of immediate assistance. If you are asked to stand-by while this is taking place then do not use the repeater until the emergency is cleared by the person handling the emergency or a control operator.

  9. Use common sense and always follow FCC Part 97 Rules and Regulations.
